Excalibur question
« on: August 21, 2017, 10:51:24 PM »

Long time guys and gals. Can someone direct me to information on replacing headphones on my excal 800.. Im wondering if when running new headphone wires into end cap how do I replace or save the (?resistors/other) embeded in the nd cap? Can you wire straight from headphone wires to board?
A link to this topic if already discussed would be appreciated.

Your headphones have a plug at the end inside the cap they're not hard wired to the board. Newer excals have a plug and an extra ground wire that usually just gets clipped if you're upgrading phones. Minelab replacement phones come with a new endcap. If you can't find a pair on eBay call kellyco, I'm sure they have a few sets hanging around if your going to stay with Koss. Joe Beechnut on YouTube has many videos on excal mods. He did my pinpoint mod and made a custom set of headphones for me. My end cap has the CTX fitting so I can change phones, to Koss, gray ghost etc. If your handy I recommend installing the male/female IP68 CTX plug in your end cap. Happy Hunting
